Competitions
Throughout the year there are a number of different competitions / festivals / events held for schools in the Chester area.
During 2025-26, we will organise School Games festivals and competitions for schools in the hope to engage all pupils in the national School Games programme and beyond.
Schools are required to enter events via our website only.
This year again we will focus our events on 3 different strands:
Codes of Conduct
The Chester SSP Codes of Conduct for all events can be found in the link below.
Personal Challenges
One part of the School Games programme mission is to help more children and young people with the opportunity to compete and achieve their ‘personal best’. There is a focus on including competition against oneself and others to improve personal performance with a focus on the process rather than the outcome.
The School Games personal challenge is a student led opportunity to attempt to improve performance and can take place both in and out of school. The ideal way of running this programme is to allow the children and young people the chance to choose what challenges they want to take on. Their choices should be personal to them and not just because a parent/guardian, teacher, friend or someone else told them to participate in the task.
As School Games advocates, we are aware that this could prove challenging to monitor in a school environment especially for your School Games Mark. Numerous schools run personal challenges throughout the year within the PE curriculum (Real PE) and in extra curricular activities.
The School Games are promoting the Spirit of the Games Values. We have designed a selection of certificates for you to download and use as rewards for your pupils. This is for the school to select any member of the school team who deserves special recognition for their performance during the competition. The seven values are: Self Belief, Teamwork, Respect, Passion, Honesty, Determination and an Eco Friendly value.
